Dr Tim Chang
Tim is a gynaecologist, endoscopic surgeon and fertility specialist who has been established in the Campbelltown area since 2000. He currently consults exclusively in Campbelltown and is a consultant Visiting Medical Officer at Macarthur Health Services, Campbelltown Private Hospital as well as Liverpool Public hospital.
Tim’s major interest is performing gynaecological surgery with minimal invasive techniques and avoiding a laparotomy. He has extensive experience in treating patients with endometriosis, abnormal uterine bleeding, fibroids, prolapse and bladder incontinence using minimal invasive techniques. He also works closely with other specialists to treat women with severe deep endometriosis affecting the bowel and bladder.
Tim also has a major interest in fertility and is a consultant with Genea, to provide patients with the most up to date techniques with IVF and best success rates. He is also able to provide patients with all aspects of fertility treatment, including surgery for severe endometriosis, ovulation induction and IVF.
Tim studied medicine at The University of Sydney and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) . He trained at various facilities including Liverpool Hospital, Gosford Hospital, Westmead Hospital, and The Royal North Shore Hospital. He has also done training in USA and China in minimal invasive surgery.Tim is an advocate of evidence based medicine and tailoring that to the individual patient’s needs and expectations to provide optimal medical outcomes with patient focused care.
One of Tim’s passions is to teach and pass on his skills in gynaecology and obstetrics to the next generation of clinicians. He is currently the co director of the AGES fellowship training program at Campbelltown / Liverpool hospital and coordinates MIGS teaching and training of the RANZCOG registrars. He has extensive endoscopic/laparoscopy experience having completed advanced courses and been a faculty member of many endoscopy workshops. He regularly presents at national and local conferences, and he has been the lead author of papers published in peer-reviewed publications. He also runs laparoscopic surgery workshops to teach other gynaecologists laparoscopy techniques.
Tim is a keen sportsman and likes to keep fit. He trains several times a week and is a tennis enthusiast, having played competitively for many years. He also enjoys traveling and cooking, he cooks a nice rib eye steak (medium rare of course) with a red wine jus.
Tim is a member of the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society, Fertility Society of Australia, American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and Australian Medical Association. He is also a director of Laparoscopic surgery for general gynaecologist (LASGEG), a company that runs laparoscopic workshops to train other gynaecologists in keyhole surgery.
